Ouch

I'll keep this short. It seems it's here again... That shitty (pardon my french) time of month. I awoke just before 7:00 am feeling like hell. I decided to stay in bed and try to sleep it off with the aide of some ibuprofin.
Unfortunately, I didn't have the best of luck on that front. It's after 10 am now and I still feel awful. My arms and right shoulder in particular ache. Every time I fell back to sleep I awoke with numbness in my right hand. I don't get it really. I am not sure if for me this is an MS thing or purely hormonal. Do other women without MS get numbness too if they have bad periods?
Anyway... I am up now but I am still in pain. My arms, shoulder, hips, elbows and knees all ache. I had planned to go to yoga but I'm just not sure that I can today. I have to teach at 4:20 so I may just save all my mojo for that. If I don't feel better, I'm going to try a hot bath and some rest.

There have been several studies about this. It is really common to have MS symptoms aggravated when you have your period.(or just before)It has something to do with a rise in body temperature.

I was lucky and had a hysterectomy within weeks of MS diagnosis. I never had PMS or numbness or, well, no help here. Too bad you will miss yoga.

I have no advice, I've been fortunate not to have bad periods. Just wanted to say that I hope you feel better soon.
Blessings,
Kim

Hey, I finally signed up on this site so I can comment, wheeee!

I would say that your numbness, also called a paresthesia, is related to your MS. It's definitely a nervous system issue.

I hope you're feeling better today hon and that your week improves in general - lookin' forward to kickin' it on Fri. *hugs*

Thanks for the support ladies. Astrid, I'm so stoked you signed up. Thanks for the info. I think you are right because Denial is not a river in Egypt. I still feel yucky today but I'm going to yoga to cleanse the "nadis" and to see if that helps. On the bright side... I don't have any pelvic cramps so maybe the acupuncturist is on track. I will see him next Tuesday so we'll see how it goes between now and then.
